Since 9/11, terrorism has become a priority for law enforcement and military personnel in the United States. Even more importantly, it has turned into a War on Terrorism. September 11th was the worst terrorist attack ever on the United States. Therefore, our government officials responded in the only way that felt suitable, attacking terrorism. The group responsible for the events of 9/11 is called the Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda is one of the most well known terrorist groups in the world. Because of past issues with the Muslim community, the United States should have been prepared for a retaliation from them. This is a problem for us here in the United States because now the thought of another attack by one of the most powerful terrorist†¦show more content†¦Al Qaeda tries to make it very clear that they are fighting for their religion. Their supposed mission is to continue the holy war beyond Afghanistan. Al Qaedas current goal is to establish a pan-Islamic Caliphate throu ghout the world by working with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow countries that do not practice the Muslim religion. This especially include western countries. Because the United States has a past with the Muslims there are even more susceptible to attacks by the Al Qaeda (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/para/al-qaida.htm). In February 1998, Al Qaeda sent out a bulletin that stated that is was the duty of all Muslims to kill U.S. citizens whether they were civilians, military personnel, or law enforcement. Any allies of the United States were also contained on the list. Their tactics of choice include assassination, bombing, hijacking, kidnapping, and suicide attacks.
